Brief History of the College

St. Therese-MTC Colleges (ST-MTCC) is the realization of the vision of the late Atty. Arturo A. Sebastian whose perceptual acumen saw the need for putting up an educational institution that offer quality education, training and assessment for maritime, hospitality and general education programs.

Archival Events
March 4, 1983 The birth of the Maritime Center in Tigbauan, Iloilo which offered the four (4) safety courses (SOLAS) for seafarers and those who wish to go onboard ship.
Feb. 29, 1984 The Maritime Training Center become a College assuming the name “MTC College” to broaden its scope and no longer confined itself strictly to seafarers upgrading courses.
AY 1987-1988 MTC College Branch 1 – in Sarabia Manor was established and was given permit to offer Associate in HRM and Basic Seaman’s Course.
AY 1994-1995 The Campus of MTC College Branch 1 was transferred to a lot and building purchased in Jalandoni Street, Iloilo City, carrying the name ST. THERESE COLLEGE and courses were expanded to include BSMT and BSMarE programs.
April 1997 Started the operation of the laboratory-hotel school, the St. Therese College La Fiesta Site.
AY 1988-1989 MTC College and St. Therese College merged to become ST. THERESE- MTC COLLEGES.
June 23, 1999 St.Therese-MTC Colleges Quality Standards System was certified to the Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and ISO 9001:94 Rules by the DNV Certification B.V. the Netherlands.
August 2003 PACU-COA Level 1 Certificate was issued to the BSHRM Course
February 2009 The three (3) Competency/Based Course of St. Therese-MTC Colleges La Fiesta Site namely: Food and Beverage Services NC II, Housekeeping NC II and Bartending NC II was granted by TESDA with the Certificate of Program Registration (COPR)
October 27, 2010 Re-accreditation Permit was granted by TESDA to the Assessment Center of Seafarer-Chief Cook and Seafarer-Catering/Stewarding (Messman) of La Fiesta
September 18, 2011 St. Therese-MTC Colleges was granted ISO:9001:2008 Accreditation
December 2014 Competency-Based Program in Cookery NCC was granted by TESDA with the Certificate of TVET Program Registration (CTPR)
Jan. 21, 2015 Junior High School (Grade 7-10) was granted a Government Recognition by DepEd.
Sept. 8, 2015 Permit to offer Senior High School Program (Grade 11-12) was granted by DepEd.
June 2016 Accreditation Permit was granted by TESDA in Housekeeping NC II, Food and Beverage Services NC II, Ships’ Catering Services NC I (Messman) of La Fiesta
November 2019 Accreditation Permit was granted by TESDA in Housekeeping NC III, Cookery NC II, Commercial Cooking NC III and Bread and Pastry Production NC II of La Fiesta
November 13, 2020 Accreditation Permit was granted by TESDA in Ships’ Catering NC III (Ships’ Cook) of La Fiesta

St. Therese-MTC Colleges Assessment Center shall specifically provide for the assesses and the community excellent assessment programs under a competency-based system through:
